On the Road . . .

. . . to healthier eating, better self esteem, and Avon RepFest! LOL  I am embarrassed to mention it is well past Christmas and all those delicious sugar cookies and I am still struggling to gain the ground I lost during the annual holiday binge eating-a-thon. So with my head held high and my feet taking baby steps, here I go back down the road of lo to no carb and sugar free.

To kick things off right  made homemade banana bread for coloring club tonight using this recipe from one of my diabetic cook books:  Banana Bread
3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup sugar (I use Truvia, but not full)
2 TBS. butter, melted (but thinking I will use coconut oil next time)
4 medium ripe bananas, peeled and mashed
1 egg
cooking spray

1) Pre heat oven to 350 degrees, and spray a glass loaf pan with cooking oil.
2) Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Combine sugar and next 3 ingredients; add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. At this point I add nuts if I have any chopped pecans available. About 1/4 cup should do it and just lightly stir them in.
3) Pour batter into  loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 for 50  minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes ; remove from pan, and let cool completely on wire rack.

Serving: 1 whole loaf (book claims 15 slices but I am skeptical )

Today I also dug out my skinny chocolate recipe . Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and big deal in my house. I had bought the twins some fun gold foil wrapped chocolate coins to enjoy, but I wanted something too.

I made this coconut oil based chocolate , with orange extract.

You need to keep it in the freezer, but that is half the fun, remembering it's there or being pleasantly surprised when you don't!

Skinny Chocolate

1/4 cup cocoa powder (I find Ghirdelli's is best)
1/2 cup coconut oil
TBS. extract flavoring of your choice
TBS. Stevia/Truvia
Pinch of salt

1)Melt coconut oil.
2) Add cocoa, stevia, and remaining ingredients. Mix well.
3)Line pate with wax paper and spread mixture on top.
4) Freeze until solidified, then break apart like bark and enjoy!
5)Store in freezer.

Tip: I double the recipe and use cool shaped candy molds I found online.

Enjoy this Irish for everyone holiday!
Blessings, Beth

Post Thanksgiving wrap up

The big turkey day is over and our focus has shifted to the  big prize, Christmas!  Four weeks from today is Christmas eve!  Wasn't yesterday just the 4th of July?

I just wanted to take a moment from all the hustle and bustle to share a couple recipes that made our family day more yummier, is that a word? I always cook fresh cranberries and  was thrilled to find them at UGO (United Grocery Outlet) for only .99 cents a bag. The secret is : bring to boil 1/2 c. sugar, 1/4 c. brown sugar and 1/2c. water.  Then add the cranberries, 1 TBS. pumpkin pie spice, and 1 tsp. orange zest.  Simmer until all the berries pop.  The fun part is helping the tough berries break with the back of your spoon!

I also whipped up some deviled eggs, a favorite here but I probably haven't made since Easter! LOL
The secret here is hot sauce and smoked paprika.

This year for dessert I decided to try something new, making a caramel cream pie.  I had never made caramel from scratch and was excited to do this boil in a can experiment!  Turned out just like everyone said it should - whew! LOL
I got the idea from an internet recipe, Christmas with the Kranks caramel cream pie.  If your a fan of the movie or even the book, Skipping Christmas, then you will understand the significance of Blair's favorite pie.

Another easy peasy recipe: 2 14oz. cans unsweetened condensed milk, 7oz. jar marshmallow fluff, 1 graham cracker crust pie shell, and 16 oz. cool whip.
Boil milk in cans, lable,  removed, for 3 hours. After cooling, save 1/4 c. and set aside, and mix with fluff. Pour into crust and  refrigerate overnight.  Before serving; cover top of pie with cool whip and drizzle with reaming 1/4c. caramel.
This was good, but a little to sweet for my taste.  Next year I will just stick with my cheesecake pumpkin pie.

From my family  to yours - Have a holly, jolly Christmas season this year!
Blessings, Beth

Life is a little nuts right now . . .

Isn't that the truth! Seems like I wait for  Fall all year long, it is my favorite time of year.  Then October gets here and BAM! I swear it is like a starters gun went off and the time moves like warp speed on a episode of Star Track!  I feel like the holidays are hurtling themselves at me with an unseen force that only Ray Bradbury could appreciate. However I am trying to assimilate and be flexible.

My first hurdle this year was our yearly tradition of the great nut bowl!   Grandma Lawaine's nut bowl is filled as soon as the whole nuts hit the store at Thanksgiving time, and kept filled all through the season .  Of course we always find some under the hutch or china cabinet come July or something, we blame the cats.  Well like everything else, the price has gone up to an almost unacceptable price.  So the big question is do you let crushing economics void out your family traditions?  When is enough, enough?  I choose to bit the bullet and pay almost $5 a pound and try to cut cost somewhere else.  Who needs toothpaste and toilet paper during the holidays right?

I am also feeling very blessed with all the holiday outings we have coming up.  I do not take it lightly to be included. Most people take it for granted to be part of family outings or groups that in

clude friends new and old.  We don't have that, as we are transplants with no family in this state. I have also heard or been treated to the "your not from her

e" mentality which includes cliques of old school friends not needing new friends apparently.

Our youth needs out grew our last church, so recently we have been attending a slightly different and smaller church. They have been very welcoming and we love the  folks there, they are so real, not just dressing up for Sunday if you know what I mean.

Today they youth group will help package up over 100 turkey dinners to be given out by the churches ministry, Jesus Helping Hands. To be followed by a potluck turkey dinner for those  chilled children.  I am bringing mashed potatoes, gravy, and my famous pineapple corn muffins.  I would like to share this easy/peasy and economical recipe with you , for this holiday season:

Pineapple Corn Muffins

20 oz. can crushed pineapple
3 boxes Jiffy corn muffin mix

Mix ingredients together, fill lined muffin cups and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.

Makes approximately 18 muffins

Beans to you

Mid - week greetings.  Been a crazy couple weeks here and everywhere!   But the daily grind continues, despite feeling the contrary while suffering through last nights presidential race.  With the daily grind comes our mid-week bible study and fellowship dinner.  I have taken over the task of bringing the dessert, and salad. In an effort to help myself and the other diabetic folk in our group, I try to make a mostly healthy type offering.  Last week for example I made black bean brownies.   Not a huge hit, some are missing all the sugar I suppose.  One comment was that the brownies tasted like they had coffee in them.  Not a bad thing in my book!  LOL

This week we will revisit the bean with, Faux pecan pie. Yes, you heard right. Pecan pie made with pinto beans.  This recipe unfortunately also contains a cup of butter and a whole  lotta sugar! So why not as healthy, it is a little more wallet friendly than regular pecan pie. Have you seen the price on nuts lately?!?

Pinto  Bean Pie

1c. cooked pinto beans with juice
1c. flaked coconut
4 eggs
3c. sugar
1 TBS.  vanilla extract
1c. butter, melted
2 (9 inch)deep dish frozen pie crust, thawed

Directions:
1. Mash beans till very smooth

2. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Mix in beans, sugar, vanilla, melted butter, and coconut until well blended. Divide filling into pie crust.

3. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour

*TIP: I like to garnish the top with a few chopped pecans while the pie is still warm. Gently press them in a little to stay in place.  Helps with the over all experience and sells the whole "faux pecan pie" .

Happy fall y'all and happy eating without breaking your wallet or your health. Will let you know the reception it garnered at church tonight! LOL

Getting started

Just wanted to pop in and give a progress report on my new plan.  Yesterday was my bi-weekly shopping trip into the 'city' or 'boro we call it here.  Did my best to get what I needed to get started, feed the whole family (not make 3 or 4 meals-not running a restaurant here), and stay on budget.

My budget stayed the same and I was pleased to see that without buying as many carbs/junk food, I was able to shop the sales and come home with plenty of veggies, fruit and protein - for same shared family meals!

I have been following a few 21 fix blogs/groups and a common thread was they would make special meals/plans for just themselves, something healthy.  Not an option for me.  As a family we eat the same food at meal time, and we can all benefit from a more strict portion control.  I did purchase a couple things/snacks for just me since the twins can tolerate a few more carbs than me.  Items such as snack packs of almonds and a vegan protein powder for shakes.

I mix mine with unsweetened almond milk

First, I chose vegan because just about all protein powder contains soy as their protein source. About 98% of all soy grown in the united stated contains GMO.  If you need to know why GMO's are bad, contact me and I will fill you in.  So I needed a pea protein based product. My local Wal-Mart had two vegan choices, both with pea protein. However one also had soy and GMO's  listed. So this is the only one that passed muster, and of course it was $5 more.  I was able to adsorb that cost because they did not carry the color coded containers.

I really hemmed and hawed over buying these/wanting these.  Then decided they would be the best way to quickly figure volume on salads and what not.   Most blogs said they were easily available at Wal-Mart for a low price.  Not mine.  I did find them on Amazon. Amazon carries the  BeechBody brand at a price of between $12-18 dollars. There are a few knock off brands to choose from as well.    I found a brand from a vendor that was actually nice and had a lifetime warranty for only $5!  Now I just have to get enough 'extra' money put aside for an Amazon order with free shipping (now up to $49 minimum).  But I do need to order an ant hill for school . . .  again.

Until these things come to pass I will make due with all the free material I printed from the internet and double check calories vs. serving size with my Fitnessbuddy app.  which is how I also keep track of my water intake and exercise .
So  I started this morning and seem to be right on track according to the cross referencing. Will keep posting updates . Feeling positive, doing something feels better than doing nothing!

Making plans . . .

Typically I would have placed my Meal Plan Monday here, but getting back to basics and am busy reworking old menu's.  In a nut shell: As of my last doctor appointment, 2 weeks ago, I now have my A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol under control.  Now I just need to redouble my efforts on the weight loss front.
In a series of events I followed a link from a diabetic blog and was almost tricked into buying the BeachBody 21 day fix diet.  I had never heard of it before so did extensive research.  Worth the time.  I will not spend money on this but found many things free online and it seems pretty sound.

Basically with these colored containers they have made portion control and calorie counting goof-proof.  Based on your current weight and weight loss goals, you will have a chart as to how many times a day you can fill and eat each container of food.  Example:  Green is for veggies and equals 1 cup.  Based on the 1200 - 1400 calories I wish to consume, I can fill and eat 4 of these. Red is protein and equal's 5 oz. I can have 5 of these.  Yellow, carbs. Purple - fruit, blue - dairy/fats, and orange is salad dressings and nuts/seeds.  All this is to help make it idiot proof to get a balanced diet.

I found so little info when doing the diabetic diet, but had good results. However I made myself a wreck trying to count calories and even made my own food swap cards for food conversion. And recipes? Ha! Most cookbooks don't carry conversions for carbs, protein or sugars anymore. Sigh. I read a review of the 21 fix and it said don't spend money, print it free from online groups or Pintrest posts, she was so right!  I have so much more info already than I ever had on the diabetic exchange diet. I have also started a great recipe collection from recipes found on Pintrest, all with the container coding.   Example: Mexican lasagna is 1red, 1green, and 1 yellow container.
Again all material I collected seemed right in order with correct serving sizes and quanites. Just much easier to figure out.  Even hubby seemed pleased. He has less patients than I for food calculating and will default to eating whatever if it is a hassle.

You can by cheap version of diet on Amazon if your not into googling, and even the containers alone at Wal-Mart.  I will keep you posted on how this pans out for me.

Menu Plan Monday - after the party

Happy Monday all.  It was a beautiful week-end, an Indian summer here really. Saturday was another one of my birthdays. The twins were gone on a fall retreat with the church youth group, but it was still a wonderful day. I got to spend it with hubby (like a date!) and middle daughter visited.  My oldest sent me a video of her and my grandsons singing happy birthday (all the way from northern MI, ain't technology amazing!) and I made the mistake of opening it on my phone while waiting in a checkout line in the store. I cried like a baby! It ended with army son calling and talking forever. I could hear my new granddaughter cooing and gurgling in her daddies arms while we spoke. It was like  a beautiful song.

All good things have to end and so did my birthday, as well as my poor eating habits. I have had many food issues, such as digestion.  I had my six month check-up and my AC1 number is now under control. Matter fact it is the lowest it has ever been in the fifteen years I have been struggling with my blood sugar.  I have also successfully reincorporated exercise since leaving my retail job.   So it is now time to get serious about diet.

I have a hard time with dairy, raw vegetables, fried and processed foods, not to mention carbonation. Lets face it folks, carbs are not my friends either!  I have done well in the past with either a low carb diet or a 1200 calorie diet. I am going to revisit that more militantly and do my best on my extreme low income budget.

This weeks menu plan might not reflect that as I am purging the pantry and fridge of  all birthday goodies.  Please pray as I am weak willed around food and do struggle with trying to keep my sugar from dropping. I end up eating more carbs/calories in an effort not to pass out.  I don't take any medication, so no back up reserves in my blood stream. I do it all myself with my diet.

MONDAY:  Crock pot chicken verde' over brown rice , with steamed mix veggies.

TUESDAY: Tuna casserole with pea's and carrots

WEDNSDAY:  Eating at church and have no idea what is being served, but I hear that all food served in the presents of God is good for you!

THURSDAY:  My middle daughter is having a gender reveal party for my soon to be here sixth grandchild.  No idea what is being served, but I lobbied for grilled chicken.  I am bringing the warm mustard potato salad as well as the colored pumpkin to reveal the babies sex!

FRIDAY:  Baked chicken leg 1/4's with mashed potatoes and broccoli

SATURDAY:  Homemade Hawaiian pizza and salad

SUNDAY:  Beef and broccoli stir=fry over rice

Hang in there with me as I continue my never ending journey of better health as I keep advancing my age! LOL   Hopefully it will get more exciting if not better tasting!

Blessings, Beth Ann

Mid-week musings and gratitudes

 Greetings friends, we
find ourselves in the middle of another week.  A fine place to be indeed.  As the old sayings goes, "any day you get out of bed is a good day!".    It is also a good time for some positive reflection.  Life seems to always pick up speed in the fall.  Not sure why and not sure why I anticipate autumn with such fervor all year.  For most Spring is  the wished for time of rebirth.  But I am truly a child of the  fall autumnal , my birthday month.  My yearly renaissance .

To say things have been tight since I through in the towel with trying to hold a retail job, is kind at best. My chronic pain is the culprit but I haven't thrown in the towel on trying to get the most out of these days of my life.  I still believe God is trying to show me how to take life one day at a time, in a different way then when I was working, by using Him as my rock . He is my strength.  God and my family are all I have, and all I need.  He is giving me opportunities to see I lack for nothing I NEED and no one ever said there would not be hard times and sacrifice.  Those very things make us who we are, and bring us closer to our creator.  We all learn obedience in different ways.

It lightens my heart to be able to see my growth and progression on my walk of faith with the one true God.
That said, I didn't do it alone.  My husband has been instrumental in all this, and I have witnessed his spiritual struggles and achievements as well. I  praise God every day for brining him into my life, as well as brining us to middle TN.  Much like Abraham and Sarah leaving Ur.  He brought us to a land of no family but full of spiritual fruit.

Wow, sorry this is so long.  Had more on my mind than I supposed, and there is still so much to say!  LOL  Anyway.  Our budget is overdrawn to say the least. Groceries is our only  "flexible" money. We have been generously blessed this past month, which has helped us keep afloat, and I have been creative as well as  militant about using what we already have in the pantry.

We were gifted these beautiful bell peppers.  Yellow is a big plus, as  I can't digest the green  unripe ones. We also received some onions and tomatoes. Such a blessing as I had just invested in a ground beef chub.  Didn't know what we were going to eat this week, but knew I had plenty of choices with ground beef.  I returned home, found this gift and immediately thought: Stuffed Peppers!
Twin son shouted Huzzah!  and begged for them everyday, he had to wait two whole days! LOL

When  making stuffed peppers I typically use rice with my beef, but I wanted to save my rice for a different meal this week.  I wouldn't buy more. However I did have some leftover bulgur from a previous recipe.  So I subtitled it for the rice, easy peasy, and it tasted great!

In summary. I am grateful.  I am grateful to God.  Everyday I get out of bed and experience the love of my family and any food I may serve them, I am grateful to God.

Blessings, Beth Ann

Menu Plan Monday

Happy Monday all!  The first week-end of October was a busy one.  Birthdays, shopping, church, pumpkin patch, Charlie Brown, and a bonfire!  Wow, still tired just thinking about it.
Then Monday reared it's ugly head and brought all the festivities to a screeching halt.  Had my six month doctor check-up.  I have said it before, but I am my own worse enemy.  I managed to work myself up into a panic attack before the appointment.  Which for the record went very well.  All my hard work paid off and was evident in my blood work and numbers.  Great motivation to keep it up and keep me off the meds!  Now might be the time to start also focusing on my mental status as well!  More positive self dialogue as Dr. Phil would say.

MENU PLAN MONDAY
MONDAY: Split pea soup made with the ham bone from Bre's b-day party dinner

TUESDAY: Spaghetti w/turkey meat sauce, green beans and garlic bread

WENDSDAY: Church,  I am bringing dessert - Cookies: peanut butter  and pumpkin spice w/with white chocolate chips

THURSDAY: Oven roasted chicken leg quarters, brown rice and mix veggies steamed
FRIDAY: Mustard glazed chicken thighs, mashed potatoes and broccoli

SATURDAY: Shredded beef over rice with cooked carrots

SUNDAY: Ham and green bean b.b.q. skillet

Well I guess I will have another cup of coffee, have some split pea soup,  and get ready for book club!

Blessings, Beth Ann

Happy October Y'all

Happy  October everyone.  My life has continued to ebb and flow, like life does, while I was on my long blogging hiatus. Not going to bore you with the details, but if things come up in the course of blogging I may digress and fill in a hole or two.

So for this o' so special evening , the first dinner of October, I made a big pot of chili.

Nothing flashy, or trend setting, but still a crowd pleaser here.  Only hope there is enough for hubby when he returns from the salt mines.  My twin tweens seem to eat their weight these days.   Growing I guess is hungry business!

One thing that has NOT changed is that we are on a tight, and I mean tight budget.  Especially with food, the only "disposable" income we have - ha!
During grocery shopping yesterday I stumbled upon this gem, fresh brussle sprouts, reduced!  Do you know how much these cost frozen even? Well maybe not if your like about half the population and don't enjoy them.  However 75% of the folks in my household do, but we usually can not afford them.  Sad times right, when you can't even afford a sprout.

I turned these into a stir- fry , and paired it with some reduced bratwurst  I also scored.  I was hoping for boneless pork, but the price was right on the brats and they were also a nice treat.

Some folks don't know the best and safest way to prepare bratwurst is to par boil it for about 20 minutes first.  Then brown them up in your cast iron skillet for a nice crisp skin texture.

I also should mention that I steam my sprouts ahead as well, also about 20 minutes, before putting them too in a cast iron skillet with some butter.

I tossed it all together after returning from a much needed bible study, with the most supportive ladies that I have been blessed to know.  Who knew being me could be so stressful some days?

Knit with me Tuesday

For the past couple weeks knitting has been slim.  I guess like everything else in life, it ebbs and flows with the tides your riding out in your life.  I have been working on a pair of knitting loom fingerless gloves.  Still new to the loom and not sure I am in love with it.  I feel I can go faster with the needles, however I am not a fan of the double pointed triangular knit on round items such as socks.  So, the jury is still out but I do love doing new things.

One part of life that is slowing me up is that I injured the middle finger on my right hand, and you guessed it - I am right handed. Had no idea how much I use that finger, (please keep your mind clean), especially when it comes to knitting.  I have one finished and tried to bind off the second last night, but to much pain last night.  I think I re-injured my finger earlier in the day : (

One done, one to bind off.

This is a hot pick acrylic with metallic shot through it - pretty!

Thanks for joining me on this knitting update and I will post a pick of the finished item before placing it in my ETSY store.  You can visit my ESTY shop at: www.ETSY.com/shop/Danielsenfiberart

Snow Day - for us, finally.

Mid-week greetings from the frozen ice tundra formerly known as middle Tennessee = LOL  I know, I know, you all are frozen too.  I say we shoot the groundhog, whose with me?  So far my lot has not caved to these circumstances.  I keep telling them we are from northern MI and made of sterner stuff!  Until today.  I caved.  Woke up feeling  .. . . . uhg?  Conveniently the weather had given me an escape with even more snow.  So had a hot shower while the twins played in this fleeting, melting wonderland that I relocated thousands of miles to get away from.  Ah, irony, we meet again.
Now I am drinking a cup of coffee and ruminating over the past crazy week.  Most likely no one week is any worse than any other (barring death), but doesn't feel like some are entirely comprised of Mondays?  I just haven't been right since putting my back out over two weeks now.  Progress is slow said the hamster in the wheel.

So this is where all the magic happens, my corner desk with a view!

After two weeks of intense negotiations, and working around 3 different people's work schedules, we made it here yesterday.  Husband said he didn't care what the weather was doing, we were not rescheduling again! LOL  It was beautiful.  I am slightly embarrassed that it took us 14 years and a wedding to make it to this local historical site.  Husband enjoyed it even more than I, but then again he works with his hands.  Most know him as the car guy, but he can also do some pretty impressive craftsmanship in home construction.  Now we are looking for more excuses to go back.  They have some nice holiday shindigs, but I am thinking the tea room with my bible study ladies : )

Almost finished with my cup of Joe, so I had better get to the point I was mulling over in the shower this morning.

We home school and I know most picture our typical day like a trip to Chuck E. Cheese, but nothing could be further from the reality.  I am a militant OCD mom whom believes in work first and play later if there is time.  We are required to put in 180 days of school a year.  I have never come in under 210 in any of the 11 years I have home schooled.  We don't do fall breaks, winter breaks or other public school only holidays.  We even had school on President's day (gasp!), we did however have a great discussion on all the freedoms we have in this country, and even if you don't agree with the president you still have to support him or watch your country continue to deteriorate as people jump ship like rats on a sinking boat.  We also talked about it the presidents job is easier now vs. colonial times.  On the other hand however we take time off a day here and a day there, not counting our regular family vacations.

Anywhooooo . . . sometimes I have to remind myself it's ok to take a day and be a kid and have fun.  Besides, letting them play in the snow and test the strength of icicle's can be counted as science class right? Who's with me?  Anyone?

Who can say no to these faces?  Not me!

One last thing to ponder on this self designated snow day, what to stream on Netflix? Harder than you would think to answer.  We only have the one TV to share.  Don't send emails, we like it that way.  But I don't want to watch mindless violent cartoon, and most tween-adult shows have what my prudish beliefs would call inappropriate content.  Cue the tuba intro of the coolest show ever, Murder, She Wrote!  Thanks to wonderful shows like this my twins had awesome vocabulary words like CULPRIATE by the time they were in 3rd. grade!  LOL  I can now proudly say I have watched each episode of the 12 seasons, twice - no, not all at once, but over a 3 year span.

I so bad want this on a t-shirt!

Now I am eyeballing either Quincey M.E. or Rockford files.  Hubby votes based on vehical driven by the starring characters.  Guess which one he is lobbying for?  Working daughter feels the same way, but they are not yet streaming the original Knight Rider. LOL

Blessings, Beth

Back on my fe . . er . . .seat!

I received these cups and desert plates

Here I am, back in the saddle again (so to speak). Put my back out a week ago today, got to see the chiropractor the following Monday and am just now so I can sit up and not be in incredible pain. Been a long week.  I saw small improvements everyday and my body told me when I pushed it to far.  God is good and I praise Him for taking care of me and for giving me the best husband ever.

Life moved on while I was down and due to the miracle of Wi-Fi I got much more accomplished than you would think.  One thing being getting my spring Mary & Martha catalogs and products ordered .  They were delivered yesterday and I can't wait to share them with anyone who will stand still long enough - LOL

They are currently in my Praise Tray with flameless tea lights

I also felt up to being in the kitchen for a small amount of time.  I decided to make my coconut oil chocolate and try out the cute silicone tray I found while shopping for the children's Valentine treat.

this tray was almost to big for my freezer!

Recently we were gifted with some yarn and some knitting looms.  We had never done the looms before, but they were a big hit, especially for the twins!

Twin son is making a multicolored baby owl

Mom helped sew it all together.

I believe he gave it to twin sister for  an early birthday gift - LOL

If interested in either the Mary & Martha or learning to work on the knitting loom, please contact me.  I am booking up fast for available days this month and working on the next two months.  Easter is April 5th, and then mothers day is right around the corner!  www.mymaryandmartha.com/BADANIELSEN.

For my local friends, I am checking into loom/knitting classes at the local library.  Let me know if interested and I will keep you posted.

Yarnbox Post

Here it is, the anticipated yarnbox blog, and we all know that the anticipation is more than half the fun! It's like Christmas in your mailbox!  Imagine how excited I was to discover a yarn of the month club!  Ok, well those of you who know me well don't have to imagine - LOL  Talked about it quite a bit while trying to make up my mind I guess, thank you guys for listening : )

It's here!

Too funny!

You had better believe it

The first peek.

Ta-dah!

Hubby is a good sport about winding into balls.  Maybe one day there will be a swifter in my future.

Here it is as the beginning of a circular staircase shawl.

I am also working on another cable knit hat.

And for those who asked, here is the sky scarf I began on Jan. 1st. Yes, lots of rainy days.

Not sure I will do another box, but I crunched the numbers and it does work out close to what I spend a year in yarn.  Sigh.  Such a luxury.  It is a deal though.  The skeins I received retail for $27 each.  I received 2 plus 2 patterns that retail for $6 each online.  I believe it read, a $65 value for $40 : )   I believe I can get one shawl, one hat and one pair of fingerless gloves out of the two skeins. Sigh.  Such happiness.   You can visit my online store at : www.ETSY.com/shop/Danielsenfiberart
